All Year

Parking:

Tahoe-Donner does not allow parking along the street other than for short periods, but you can probably squeeze 2 cars in the driveway.

Beds:

The house is currently configured to sleep 8 comfortably, with options for up to 10. Queen beds are in the bedroom on the main floor and a bedroom upstairs. A full over full bunk bed is in the other bedroom upstairs. The couch in the bonus room is a queen pull-out couch and the side couch can be divided into two separate twin beds. Sheets for each of the the beds are in the closet of each bedroom (or, in the case of the bonus room downstairs, the yellow chest), with extra sheets stowed in the downstairs bedroom closet. Please bring your own sheets and towels if you won’t have time to wash and dry the house linens at the end of your stay.

Baths:

There are two full bathrooms. Towels are in the drawers in each bathroom, with extra towels in the laundry room.

Kitchen:

Please bring your own coffee and alcohol and replace any condiments or other food you use up. Plates, cups, silverware, wine glasses and other kitchenware can be found in the cabinets by the kitchen sink. We have a dishwasher, gas stove and oven, microwave oven, coffee maker and toaster. Appliance user manuals are in the drawers in the kitchen or storage unit in the living room. Please do not leave any perishables in the fridge or potential squirrel food outside of cupboards when you leave. Empty grounds from the coffee maker into the garbage and unplug it. Leave the dishwasher empty and the door ajar.

Back deck:

We have a gas grill on the upper deck, along with basic grilling tools and a charcoal chimney. We still have a charcoal grill at the house but it may only be used in accordance with Tahoe Donner and Truckee rental and fire hazard rules.

Cleaning:

If your stay is through VRBO, we will generally contract with Alpenglow Cleaning. Do not use harsh cleansers on the travertine tile. Cleaning supplies are under sinks in kitchen and baths. A vacuum cleaner is in the washroom. Brooms are in the kitchen and garage.

Laundry:

Machines are off the front entry way. Please wash and dry any house sheets and towels you use (recommend bringing your own since it takes a while). Do not leave anything to mold in the washer or dryer; it is OK to leave clean laundry hanging to dry on the wooden drying rack or over doors, chairs, or towel racks. Leave the washer lid open.

Pets:

Well behaved pets are welcome and feel free to use the extra dog-towels are in the laundry room.

Please supervise pets when outside: Hansel Ave is a busy road, and there are coyotes and bears in the area. There is a large green-belt behind the house, and there are wonderful dog-friendly hikes and restaurants in the region.

Garbage and recycling:

Use the bear box next to driveway for both. Pick up day is Tuesday. Recyclables must be bagged securely in special blue bags (find them in underneath the kitchen sink) or they’ll be treated as trash. Garbage may be bagged in other bags. Be sure to remove all recyclables and garbage from the house when you leave.

Camping:

Prohibited except in the TD campground on Alder Creek Road (see map).

Tahoe Donner Membership Perks:

Guest IDs for marina, Trout Creek Clubhouse and other facilities are in the lanyards on the wall by the entrance.

Beach:

We have beach towels, folding chairs and a folding cooler in the laundry room.  Please feel free to use these and wash the towels once you’re done.

At Night:

Please do not leave the exterior lights on all night (the neighbor across the street likes to star gaze.)
